SECURE
For touring motorcyclists, secure parking for their motorcycle is one of the main requirements, when choosing a place to stay. Another consideration, is being able to store their valuables, clothing, laptop, GPS, cameras, riding boots, and other equipment securely, while they explore the local area on foot.
For this reason, both secure parking and secure storage feature high on the list of requirements, for ETR Members, and for hotels, motels, guest houses or B&B’s that want to become an ETR Site.
RIDER SAFETY
Rider Safety ranks very high on ETR's list of priorities, and we work hard to promote a safe riding environment for riders to riders to enjoy the ETR route. This is one of the reasons we avoid large cities and heavy traffic on motorways, and focus on well-maintained country roads, for the most part. Backroads have their own intrinsic dangers also, and riders and groups should exercise caution at every bend and side-entrance, because you don't know if there will be a tractor appearing out of a field, or a herd of goats trying to cross the road, up ahead.

SERVICE
Motorcyclists have a range of individual needs and requirements, and small gestures of service by the hotel staff can make a big difference. For example:
- Express Check-in can be done with their ETR Membership Card on arrival.
- Show them to their rooms before they check-in fully, so they can avoid having to wait around the reception area in heavy motorcycle clothing.
- Let them check in after changing out of their riding clothes.
- Ask them if they want a cold beer when they arrive, or if they need warm, wet towels for removing insects from their windscreens.
SOCIAL
By nature, motorcyclists are very social people, and like to interact with locals and other motorcyclists, to hear new stories, and discover the great places to visit, in the local area. Riders like to meet other riders, and sit together either inside or outside, and enjoy a beer or two, followed by some good local food, while they exchange stories and inspiration for the following days of exploration.
ETR Bar and ETR Corner are examples of how an ETR site can accommodate groups of tourists, and generate an income from their presence.
